Our Story
From Brazil to Okinawa — with love and passion for good food.
Meet Carla & Renato Kameta
Carla Kameta was born in Paraná, Brazil, where a love for good food runs deep in her family. From an early age she dreamed of building something of her own, and she researched opportunities abroad with determination, knowing exactly what she wanted to pursue.
Side by Side
Her husband Renato has stood by her side from the very beginning. Together they made the bold decision to move to Japan, and it was Renato who helped Carla found Kameta's Group, turning a shared dream into reality. Nearly 20 years of marriage and partnership, building everything together from scratch.
Why Okinawa?
Okinawa felt like home from the start. Carla and Renato chose these islands for their tropical climate, stunning beaches, and the closeness to nature that shapes daily life here. It is a place where the warmth of the people matches the warmth of the sun, the perfect setting to share the flavors of Brazil.
Where It All Began
Back in Paraná, Carla's grandparents, her Di (grandfather) Toshimi Mizuta and her Bá (grandmother) Katsuko Mizuta, ran a beloved pastelaria in the countryside. As a little girl, Carla was always by their side, learning the craft, absorbing the flavors, and understanding what it means to feed people with love.
Our Roots
Generations ago, Carla's ancestors crossed the ocean from Japan to Brazil, carrying their traditions with them. Today, Carla has returned to that ancestral homeland, completing a journey that spans continents and lifetimes. Every coxinha, every esfiha, carries the memory of those who came before, and the love that brought their story full circle.
From a countryside pastelaria in Brazil to the streets of Okinawa, Kameta's Group is more than a food business. It is a family story, carried across oceans, rooted in love, and served with pride on every plate.
